Who is CarsForHaiti?
CarsForHaiti.org is the fundraising arm for Help Me Too Foundation, a charitable, non-profit organization with a mission to help needy people in Haiti, especially women and children in rural areas that are in desperate need of a variety of aid. We are registered with the IRS as a 501 (c) 3 organization, which makes your donation fully tax deductible.
After I donate my vehicle, how does it help the people in Haiti?
A: After we receive your vehicle, it is processed and sold for the maximum amount that we can get for it. Those funds are then used to fund our programs in Haiti.
How soon will my vehicle be picked up?
Depending on your location, we can usually pickup your vehicle within 24-48 hours after we receive your call or online donation form. However, since we work around your schedule, it will be at a time most convenient for you. One of our representatives will contact you to make arrangements.
My vehicle isn't running, can I donate it?
Yes! We accept any vehicle, regardless of its condition, running or not.
Does it cost me anything to donate my vehicle?
No. There is absolutely no cost to you. In fact, you benefit from donating the vehicle to a worthwhile cause, that will touch and improve the lives of many people. Your donation is also fully tax deductible, under the IRS tax rules. Simply submit the donation form and we will do the rest.
What kind of information do I need to provide to donate my vehicle?
Basically, you only need to complete and submit the Donation Form and have the vehicle's title available. Your name should be on the title, or if you you are donating on behalf of someone else, you should have the necessary legal documents (eg. Power of Attorney or owner's written approval) that authorizes you to make the donation.
Will you provide me with the paperwork to claim the donation on my taxes?
Yes. Per the IRS rules, we will provide you with the necessary paperwork that you need to claim the donation on your tax return, after the vehicle has been sold.
What types of vehicles do you accept?
We accept any type of vehicle in any condition, including cars, trucks, boats, aircraft, motor homes and motorcycles.
Do you accept property other than vehicles?
Yes. We also accept any type of real estate, heavy equipment, artwork, jewelry or any other assets of value that can be converted to the cash that we need to help us fulfill our mission.
Are you affiliated with any government agency or political party?
NO! We operate independently of government or political influence. This way, we can focus on channeling the maximum amount of aid to the people for whom it was intended.
